emdr therapy

EMDR is a structured therapy modality that can help a client reduce the distress from unresolved experiences or trauma while simultaneously working to reduce the beliefs that maintain levels of the distress client’s life. When trauma or past experiences are activated, it can feel like they are happening now. This activation and associated belief pattern can be healed through the process of EMDR. Physiological distress can be eliminated and negative beliefs that block you from accepting and enjoying life can evolve into new understanding.

 

Katie is trained in Attachment-Focused EMDR through the Parnell Institute. This EMDR model incorporates resource building and highlights connection to internal strength prior to reprocessing memories. It is a collaborative process to decide to use EMDR in therapy. It is important that clients are stable and safe to begin the process. Katie will support clients developing this readiness prior to beginning EMDR.
